In 1969, Dave began his career as an architectural sales representative for the Cook Paint and Varnish Company - then the 14th largest manufacturer of chemical coatings in the world - and worked his way up to Branch Manager. Cook Paint and Varnish added floorcoverings to their product assortment in 1972 and, as Dave says, “The rest is history!”

After learning the ways of the floor covering industry, Dave started his own paint and flooring business in 1975, better known as Dave Griggs Flooring America. After 42 years of experience, serving on the board for a national flooring cooperative, and running his business, Dave sold the company to a longtime, trusted employee in 2017.

Dave continues to be very active in the community. He served as chair of the Columbia Chamber of Commerce, he is a former Boone County Commissioner, and as an active promoter of Columbia, Boone County, and Missouri, he has served two terms as the Chair of REDI (Regional Economic Development, Inc.), as Chair of The Columbia Chamber of Commerce and as Chair of the NFIB Missouri Leadership Council
